For the past 180 years, scientists and physicians have recognised the importance of hand hygiene. Yet research shows that we still ignore many of the basic principles. Most of us focus on completing tasks we believe will make most difference to patients – as quickly as possible. Without thinking, hand hygiene often gets pushed down the list of priorities.
Understanding hand hygiene principles and the importance of timely and effective hand washing is an integral part of infection control standard precautions. This title helps to improve hand hygiene practice by challenging attitudes and encouraging the changing of behaviours, whilst conveying key learning points in an engaging and imaginative manner.
