Meeting Standards
Our range of quality assured training resources cover a series of subjects relevant to the care sector, and will help you to address Skills for Care Common Induction Standards, where you need to follow them. They are also detailed enough to support the development of knowledge and understanding required as staff work towards an NVQ in health and social care. Packed with Value
We at BVS are keen to ensure you get maximum value out of your investment in training. Consequently in 2005 we enhanced the Training Packs to contain more resources to help deliver truly effective training and to ease the admin and record keeping burden.
Each Training Pack will contain the following elements :
Lesson Plan - This provides a suggested running order for the training session, outlining when to use VHS/DVD and supporting materials provided in the pack, for example pause points where the trainer may wish to stop the film to facilitate group discussion or complete an exercise to reinforce key learning points or issue an information handout. Click here to see an example of the Lesson Plan.
VHS/DVD - Engage your audience. As part of the Training Pack the VHS/DVD can be watched straight through from start to finish or paused at specific points to facilitate group based discussion on particular issues or a key learning point. The use of chapter headings enables key training message to be delivered in bite size chunks. In addition, it can be watched by individuals, either as a self study resource or part of refresher training.
Trainer’s Guide - Provides suggestions to help you get the most out of your training session and details of how to use the supporting material found within the Training Pack. Click here to see an example of the Trainer’s Guide.
Trainee Preparation Forms - A useful tool to get trainees to complete before training commences session to assess their specific training needs and expectations. Return to this form at the end of the session so trainees can reflect upon what they have learnt.
Supporting Material - This could include Case Studies, group and / or individual exercises, discussions and information handouts. The lesson plan outlines where to use / issue these resources to aid trainees understanding of the subject
Q&A Sheets - Evaluating the level of understanding is important for you, the trainees and inspectors. The questions can also be used for small group work or to encourage a group based discussion.
Training Evaluation Form - To evaluate the effectiveness of the training, this is completed by the trainee after the session. Don’t forget this form can also be used during training and back in the workplace.
Attendance Records and Skills for Care Progress Log - To keep records of attendees and results, can be used to show inspectors. Click here to see the Skills for Care Progress Log.
Certificates (of completion and / or Skills for Care Induction Standards) - Issue these to trainees when you are satisfied that they meet training standards, recognising achievements.
Flexible Resources BVS Training Packs can be used to train staff on a specific subject or adapted and incorporated into a structured training session covering several inter-related topics. They can be used by both managers with limited training experience and seasoned trainers and provide support through every stage of the training lifecycle.
