This two part title introduces carers to the values that underpin person-centred care and assists them to develop their understanding of how principles of care should be reflected in their day-to-day practices. Part One explores the values of individuality, rights, choice, privacy, independence, dignity, respect, partnership and confidentiality. Part Two goes on to look at the meaning of prejudice and equal opportunities and the nature of the working relationship between service users, carers and others. The title also examines the service user's right to take informed risks in their life, along with how you should use your organisation's risk assessment procedures to minimise risk.

Duration:

Two part DVD: Part 1 - 35 minutes of DVD in 11 sections to be used in a suggested 2 hour training session. Part 2 - 17 minutes of DVD in 6 sections to be used in a suggested 2 hour training session.

Supporting Material:

An accompanying CD-ROM contains a Training Pack, which includes a Lesson Plan, 4 group and/or individual exercises, 2 discussions and 6 handouts. The CD-ROM also contains Question and Answer sheets a Trainer's Guide and other supporting materials, all designed to help trainers prepare and run an effective training session.
